my school

So my school has started as well - going on the 4th week - and had the first week of music classes last week. All has gone great so far. I got my first cold, lasted about 3 days - so not too shabby.... Ella has been having a blast at school - loves it.... She misses her cousin and can't wait to see her.... Well - off to bed for me :)

School has started..... Kindergarten here we come!

So Ella began her school career on August 17th.... She loved it! Last week (the second week of school) she came down with a nasty virus and missed the whole week. She is feeling much better now and can't wait to go back to Kindergarten. I am so happy and so sad all at the same time. She is growing up so quickley and there is nothing I can do about it except marvel at the whole growing up and discovering process. It really is amazing. My sweet girl. Oh what is in store for you....

In the words of a 5 year old

So my dad had knee replacement surgery today....

We went to visit him in the hospital and I had Ella in a superman hold to give him a kiss... She wouldn't kiss him, and I whispered to her that she was being rude as I put her down.

About 30 seconds later, she said "Lift me up again, I forgot he just scraped his knee, so his lips aren't yucky...."

Then on the way home, going thru Westport, I pointed out the covered wagon to her and told her about before there were cars, blah, blah, blah... I said that there were many exciting things that happened in History.

"I know about History. It's a real place. It's where Santa's reindeer go......"

I love my child....

My child amazes me

I love that I am raising a child that is aware about her earth.

We were in a parking lot and she noticed that there was gum on the ground.

"Mommy, whoever did that wasn't very nice to our earth"

A few weeks ago we were at a park and she was a blue plastic bag on the ground. She ran forward to pick it up and put it in the trashcan so it wouldn't go into the ocean (it was dog poo, but who's keeping track)

She loves to hug trees and loves nature... She and her cousin will save the world - I'm sure of it!

Her cousin Tegan cried and threw a fit when her dad was going to cut a branch off of the tree in their backyard (even though it was already dead)... They had to wait until she was at school to do it.

I love my little girl.....

shaker egg

So - I'm having the kids make shaker eggs in music this week and Ella snagged one of my eggs. She came to me saying she made her own and shook the egg.

Ella - Mom I made music with my egg
Me - Great! What did you put in it?
Ella - A dead ladybug....

Just kinda struck me as funny.....

Ella's 5th Birthday

Ella is now the big 5!!! Unfortunatley she has been uber sick. Good news - an ear tube fell out. Bad News - she has an ear infection in that ear.... Oh boy.... Here's a pic of my girl hangin around the house on her birthday.... I hope to have happier ones soon! Birthday parties are tomorrow and Sunday!

Swimmer Girl Update

Ella has completed her first session of swimming lessons and I am proud to say that she passed level one and is now onto level 2. We are going to have to get some goggles for her however - she loves to open her eyes underwater and they are turning red because she contstantly has them open... But I need to find somewhere where they could fit her for the goggles because her head is a little bigger than the average 5 year old....

She is going to take another session after a week break. She loves swimming lessons and can't wait for them to start up again!

Swimming Lessons

So we signed Ella up for swimming lessons, for something to do this winter. You have to be 5 to start at our community center - she is just a few weeks shy so they let her.

3 weeks ago she would barley put her face in the water. Now after 6 lessons, she floats on her front and back - trys to swim underwater - will dive for objects and will jump in.

I can't wait for this summer and our neighborhood pool!

I think we are going to do one more session just for reinforcement :-)

Ella's paper comment

So we were at Kalidescope and Ella got a crown where the bottom comes out to go around your head.

In the car on the way home

Ella "I know that this crown is made out of paper because it is ripable"
Daddy taking the crown "Now don't rip it or you won't be able to put it on, oh looks like you already did"
Ella "That's how I knew it was ripable"
